Africa Fintech Summit (Accra) Recap: Interoperable Payments
Fast Payment Co. LTD has returned from the Africa Fintech Summit (AFTS) in Accra energized and focused. Over the course of the summit we met key players across banks, mobile-money operators, regulators, DFIs/VCs, NGOs, and enterprise merchants. The conversations reinforced the demand for interoperable payments and compliant remittances that can serve South Sudan and expand across East Africa.
We are especially grateful to the AFTS organizers and the Ghanaian fintech community for the warm welcome and high-quality program.
What we showed on the ground
-
Interoperable wallet flows across MoMo (MTN), m-Gurush (Zain), and DigiCash, demonstrating seamless wallet-to-wallet transfers.
-
Payment gateway experiences for eCommerce, Pay-by-Link invoicing (ideal for schools and utilities), and POS acceptance for cards and supported wallets.
-
Remittance portal with up-front fees/FX, proof of delivery, and local payout to cash or wallet in South Sudan.
-
Compliance posture: risk-based AML/KYC, PCI-aligned controls (encryption, tokenization, MFA, least-privilege), and local hosting with cloud DR (≥99.9% availability target).
Who we met
-
Banks & Telcos: Leaders exploring corridor partnerships, settlement routes, and co-distribution for merchants and public collections.
-
Regulators & Public Sector: Teams focused on financial inclusion, government revenue digitization, and transparent reconciliation.
-
